INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS
___"Medical Entomology and Zoology" publishes original articles, short communications, case reports and review articles concerning entomology and zoology in medical and related fields. No manuscript previously published elsewhere will be accepted. At least the first author must be a member of the Japan Society of Medical Entomology and Zoology in good standing, or a nonmember who has paid the amount of US$45, equivalent to one year's annual dues.
___All manuscripts submitted are reviewed by at least two referees. Acceptance or rejection of each manuscript will be decided by the Editorial Board. Accepted manuscripts are published approximately in the order they are accepted.
___Proofs must be corrected and returned immediately to the Editorial Office. Corrections should be restricted to printing and editorial errors. Costs for other changes will be charged to the author. Fifty reprints are provided free. Additional copies (50 reprints/set) are obtained on payment and the number required must be specified and ordered at proof stage, when price will be quoted.
___Original articles, short communications and case reports of not more than 16, 6 and 6 printed pages, respectively, are published free of charge. Extra pages will be charged (\3,000/page).
___The manuscript should be submitted with two clear copies to the Editorial Office, the Japan Society of Medical Entomology and Zoology, c/o Department of Medical Entomology, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Toyama 1-23-1, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, 162-8640 Japan.

INSTRUCTION TO AUTHORS
___(1) Manuscript should be printed on plain paper of A4 or international size with double spacing and 2.5 cm margins on all sides. All manuscripts of papers should include title, name(s) of author(s) and address(es) on the first page, abstract (not exceeding 200 words) and key words (not exceeding 6 words) on the second page, and text ( introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements, and references) on the subsequent pages.
___(2) Scientific names of animals and plants should be italicized, and generic names, after the first appearance, should be abbreviated. Units of measurements should follow the metric system.
___(3) Tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals and printed on separate sheets. All illustrations (line drawings and photographs) on separate sheets should be serially numbered as Figures, and preferably about 1.5 times the intended final size for good reproduction. The legends should be typed with double spacing on a separate sheet. The desired location where Tables and Figures are to be inserted should be indicated in the text.
___(4) References should be arranged in alphabetical order and listed according to the examples below. More than one paper by the same author in the same year must be identified by placing the letters, a, b, etc., after the year of publication.*)
___(5) In the text, references should be cited by name and year. When a paper by two authors is cited, the names of the authors should be given with "and" (e.g., Claydon and Grove), and when a paper is by three or more authors, the name of the first author should be given before "et al." (e.g., Smith et al.).
*) Refer to the Journal page for proper examples. In practice, references should be listed in hanging indentation.
